Principal's Message

Greetings Avalon Gardens Family and Friends,

To whom much is given, much is required.  Again, I have been truly blessed to lead such a wonderful and committed school community. This is my season and I openly receive it to SERVE! I am truly honored and excited to return as the principal of Avalon Gardens STEAM Academy where there is a rich thread of family connection, pride, and history. I pledge to lead with compassion, humility, and humbleness as I give you the BEST me. I am here to serve, learn, and grow with you in our daily quest to educate our students, provide a world-class academic experience and prepare them to become Ready for the World.

I understand the importance of the African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child" that is 

beautifully displayed throughout Avalon Gardens because it will take all of us in order for our students to succeed. I embrace the quote, “And we have learned that to raise a happy, healthy, and hopeful child, it takes a family. It takes teachers, it takes clergy, it takes business people. It takes community leaders; it takes all of us. Yes, it takes a village.”

My role as an instructional servant leader is to establish systems of practices to ensure that our students receive all they need and require instructionally, culturally, socially, and emotionally. The goal for our students is for them to perform at levels commensurate with their peers across the city, state, nation, and world and to ensure all our students graduate Ready for the World – to thrive in college, career, and life.

I believe that genuine collaboration fosters ownership of a rich school culture. Supporting our students to do well at school, and in their lives, is the center of our work. Leadership is not about one person: it's about building a shared commitment and value system with all stakeholders. I need and request the entire Avalon Gardens Community to work with me. I am leaning and depending on you in order to succeed. Again, I am blessed to have been selected to serve such a dynamic community so I will work extremely hard to ensure that our students have an optimal learning experience at Avalon Gardens STEAM Academy.  I am here for you and affirm that you are important to me and together we can make a difference.

I know that together we will have an exceptional year serving our students, families, and each other and continue the legacy: “Avalon Gardens Students Are Proud, Successful, and College Bound.”
